St Andrew’s Society of the East Bay
Gathering friends with a love for Scotland
Established in Oakland in 1878

About Us
We are a benevolent organization founded in 1878 by Scotsmen to support brethren in times of need. Although the society has evolved since 1878, we still maintain our Scottish roots, and our benevolence extends to many needful and worthwhile causes. OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS WE HAVE DONATED over $15,000 to worthy causes both in the US and in Scotland, including: Age Scotland, Z-Cares Foundation, Hope Hospice, and Alameda Community Foodbank.

We organize several fun events throughout the year, which are all very well attended and enjoyed by both society members and non-members. These include a Burns Supper, Spring Fling, Summer picnic, St. Andrew's Ball, Holiday Pub Quiz, Pantomime Outing, and a Christmas tea for our “experienced” members.

We meet on the second Tuesday of the month* when we update OUR MEMBERS on society news, well-being of our members, UPCOMING EVENTS, and on Occasions we host guest speakers, and every December we enjoy our complimentary fish & chips Night with all our members.
